This year our MacMillan fund raising event took place at Bridge on 27th September 2018.
On Wednesday 26th September, staff volunteers and members, “buddied up”, to bake cakes. Some had never attempted this before, but were pleasantly surprised by their own efforts. These cakes were then decorated and were placed for judging the next day at our main MacMillan event.
Many more cakes were bought in on Thursday morning by staff, members and volunteers, these were all then judged on decoration and taste, this proved to be a hard task for the 3 lucky judges.
Prizes were awarded for best decorated and best tasting, these were both won by Wellingborough Bridge members Scott Nelson and Barry Neal.
In the best effort category two prizes were awarded these went to Mark Alexander and Patrick Charters, both from Northampton Bridge.
Afternoon tea was then served, and for £2.50 a lovely selection of sandwiches, crisps, cakes and of course a pot of tea was enjoyed. Whilst eating we listened to Bridge members playing an assortment of musical instruments and tunes, the talent at Bridge is endless!! Thank you to our musicians.
Arts and crafts made at Bridge, were on sale along with an array of second-hand clothing.
Also joining us on the day were some of our partners, Amicus Trust, NDAS, Consortiun, Orbit Community Investment, Northampton Partnership Homes, NPH Housing. Neighbourhood Learning, NBC, Hope Centre, Serenity, Cocaine Anonymous, Spencer Contacts and Voluntary Impact who mingled, gave out advice and information on their own services, and who helped make it an enjoyable day.
The atmosphere was relaxed, chilled and friendly, we would like to thank everyone, who helped in the preparation of the event, those that took part and those that generously gave money to this worthwhile cause. The total raised this year was £300, many, many thanks to you all.
