Following requests from two members to put a comedy show on and a Stand Up to Cancer event, we decided to combine the two and hosted the event on Wednesday 5th June 2019.

Table Tennis

We held a number of activities, all of which were well attended. These included - A Memory game, bingo, a quiz, a joke competition and a doubles table tennis tournament.

Memory Game

For our headline act we had English Comedian of the Year winner, Josh Pugh. Josh is an up and coming comedian who is well known on the comedy circuit and is set to perform at the famous Edinburgh Fringe festival in a few weeks time.

Josh had the crowd in hysterics and also read out the jokes in our joke competition with our winning joke being - 'Went for an interview yesterday and was asked how well I perform under pressure. I said not bad, but I do Bohemian Rhapsody better.'

Following the set from Josh, we then had a buffet, and sold cakes made by one of our very talented members.

On last count we have raised over £350 so far, thanks to the generosity of all those who attended.

A huge thank you to our brilliant volunteers for their hardwork. To our partner services who attended and took part. To Mike from The Comedy Crate who arranged for Josh Pugh to attend. But especially to our fantastic members who made the day so much fun, showing just how strong (and fun!) the recovery community really is!!
