25 members and staff from Wellingborough, Corby and Northampton turned out for the Day Trip to Sywell Country Park of Wednesday 3rd July.
Pictured is the group who congregated at a particularly beautiful viewing point at one corner of the lake.
The weather was glorious and when the starting gun was fired a couple of groups set out to route march around the lake whilst the rest of us settled for a relaxing stroll along the toe path that circumvented the lake. It was a very peaceful setting with amazing views and a myriad of exotic birds, well ducks and geese and the normal indigenous birds of middle England, with the odd interruption from the flying machines that I guess were from Sywell aerodrome.
Whilst the group advanced along the lakeside Dave decided to go “off Piste” to get a closer look at the lake and undeterred sitting on a park bench that looked like it was in a sea of undergrowth. Only with the shouts from the group to “watch out for the alligators” did Dave uproot and make it back to the group unscathed.
At the end of the walk we meandered back to café area past the butterfly garden and rested till we all met up with the route marchers and after a short rest and reflection we then departed back to the Wellingborough Bridge site.
Back at Wellingborough we were treated to a “Jo Special Soup and a roll,” yum yum, and members were able to meet up with other Bridge members that they may not have met before and look round the palace that is Wellingborough Bridge; many commented on how cosy and compact the facility is.
All in all the day was a great success and members are invited to keep their eyes peeled for notices of future events which are on the cards.
