A great time was had by all staff, volunteers, members and furry friends who took part in The Big Walk to raise funds for, and awareness of, the charity, Shelter. Those from Corby walked locally on 9 December and those from Wellingborough and Northampton took part in local walks the following day. Groups set off at different times to walk routes of 3, 5 and 10 kms. Everyone was welcome to return to Bridge sites to enjoy a socially distanced well deserved soup and a roll with a hot drink and chat.

Members commented on how much they had enjoyed the event and the atmosphere was amazing - everyone (staff, volunteers and members) got involved and made it really fun.

Thank you to the staff involved in coordinating the event and to everyone who attended for following our COVID procedures. Special thanks to Jenny, who works in the kitchen at Northampton Bridge, for making the delicious leek and potato soup for all 3 Bridge sites.

Once the sponsorship money has been collected, we will update you with the total amount raised but in the meantime, a special mention for Sammie, a volunteer at Northampton, who was unable to attend the Bridge walk and who completed the 10km walk on her own raising a massive £205 for Shelter to be added to the Bridge total.

Due to the success of these events, we hope to be able to arrange more walks for members once the current restrictions are lifted.

Many thanks to all who participated in this event.
