On the 28th September 2017 we hosted an event to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The day started with the cake competition, a total of 20 cakes were made by Bridge members, volunteers and staff.

Judged on both taste and decoration representatives from the Hope Centre, Aquarius and SUNSET had the enviable task of doing the judging.

The winner of the best decorated cake went to Jerry and Jill, volunteers at Northampton Bridge, and the winner of the best tasting cake went to Naomi from Wellingborough Bridge.

Five brilliant singers and three poets entertained everyone throughout the day and the audience were visibly impressed by their talents.

The gym challenges turned highly competitive and were great to watch. The winners were Eugene for 'The Plank', Rowing by Vinnie, Press-ups by Paul A, and Squats by Paul B, all Bridge members.

Two amazing ladies Ann-Marie and Linda B 'braved the shave' and had their hair shaved completely off and Barry N had his chest waxed to raise money for this very worthwhile cause. Everyone was impressed with their courage.

There were even eating challenges such as 'Eating donuts without licking your lips' which was won by Barry J. 'Eating as many dry crackers as you can' which was won by Kieran J and the eating baked beans with a cocktail stick challenge, which was won by Barry G, again all Bridge members and volunteers.

Taster sessions of acupuncture and reflexology were also available to try out.

Bridge kitchen staff did a brilliant job preparing a buffet for the 140 people who attended the event throughout the day. There was something for everyone whether participating or just watching.

Last year we raised £750 for MacMillan Cancer Support. Not all the money has been collected yet for this year, but we anticipate the total to be about £1000.

This was a partnership event with SUNSET, Aquarius, the Hope Centre. With many other agencies also attending to offer help, advice and information regarding their own services, these included - Serenity, Solvit, Good Loaf, CAN Young People, SMART Recovery Voice Ability, Credit Union, NA and CA.

A massive thanks to all who attended, participated and who helped prepare and organise this event. Thank you!
