The Bridge Programme provides Positive Activities. We aim to build on the intensive programmes of supervision and treatment which are currently in place in the county, by providing activities, groups, advice and training for members, in order to:
- Help them constructively fill their time and develop or maintain a sense of purpose.
- Improve their health and wellbeing.
- Address their problems.
- Increase their employability.
In light of the above, we have developed and constantly review a programme of physical and other activities that are available to members. These activities are outlined below:
Auricular Acupuncture is a complementary therapy that stimulates acupuncture points on the outer ear by administering needles. This can be helpful with withdrawal symptoms, cravings, sleep problems, stress, anxiety and depression. (Northampton, Wellingborough and Corby.
- Arts and Crafts
A session for those that want to try their hand at drawing, painting or other art. (Northampton).
A boxing orientated exercise session. (Northampton).
- Bridge's Relapse Prevention Group
The Relapse Prevention Group is a relaxed and friendly group that is non-structured and informal.
The group encourages members to discuss both the positives of their recovery and any difficulties that they have or may foresee (e.g. an upcoming event that they are concerned may trigger a lapse).
Through the help and support of the facilitators and peer support from other members, the group aims to resolve these concerns. The group aims to empower and equip individuals with tools that can be used on a regular basis to help individuals achieve their desired goal.

- Bridge Recovery Group
A new way of recovery - learn to love yourself with fun activities. (Wellingborough).
- Circuit Training
A workout session that includes a combination of cardio and weight exercises. (Northampton).
- Cycle Maintenance
Practical and theory advice, as well as instruction on cycle maintenance. (Northampton upon request).
- Cycle Tours
Bridge Northampton run bike tours every Wednesday; bikes and helmets are provided.
- Desert Island Discs
Share some of your favourite songs/pieces of music and express what it means to you. (Wellingborough, Northampton and Corby).
- Education, Training and Employment (ETE)
Education, Training and Employment support - get help with Essay writing, English Grammar, and Reading/Writing. (Northampton).
The Education, Training and Employment Process:
1.Assessments of Needs/Wishes:
Members who wish to visit the ETE drop in are wanting to develop their knowledge and improve their life skills. Each member will be assessed as to which level an engagement is required.
2.Lower Level Intervention:
Members wishing to improve the confidence building, self a esteem, small group work interaction, I.T skills, education and online bite size learning and all levels Key Stage 1,2 and 3.
Member wishing to move forward in their recovery by, we encourage member to use other services, outside agencies, volunteering and employment to promote their independence.
- Football (Changing Goals)
In partnership with Northampton Town's Football in the Community scheme, we run a weekly football session with a fully qualified FA Coach. We meet at the changing rooms at the Racecourse in Northampton at 11.45am and the session finishes at 1.30pm. Kit is available upon request. View Video
- Gym Sessions
In partnership with borough councils and leisure centres in Northampton, Wellingborough, Rushden, Corby and Thrapston we offer gym places to a small number of members. Alongside this service we also have our own gym in Northampton which is free to members and is open on most afternoons of the week (see timetable).
We have a fully qualified hairdresser who is available to cut hair on Tuesdays. Please see the timetable for dates. (Northampton, Wellingborough and Corby).
- Job Club/Housing Support
Housing support is support for any Housing matter, from sustaining tenancy, tenancy disputes, housing debts to benefits. Job club is advice and information for meaningful activity to assist working towards achieving work goals.
The sessions will be of 30 - 45 minutes duration.(Northampton).
- Women's Recovery Group
We offer an informal chat group where members can make new friends and discuss their problems. (Northampton).
- Qi Gong
Qi Gong involves meditation, movement, deep breathing and is used for health and spirituality.
Reflexology is a form of massage and manipulation of the feet. It helps to balance all the systems of the body and creates a wonderful feeling of relaxation. Foot Reflexology in combination with acupuncture can help with addictions and some of the withdrawal symptoms. (Northampton).
- Table Tennis
Table Tennis tables are available during opening hours. (Northampton).
- Three Principles Focus Group
A focus group held by a Holistic Health Practitioner. An informal group, discussing our thoughts and how they make us feel and how these feelings can affect out behaviour, opintions and life circumstances.
- Tot's Group
Tots group is a group for mums, dads, grandparents and carers to come together and make friends, support each other and also for the children to make friends, play and have fun. Click Here to view the Tot's Group timetable.
- Training Events
There are training events open to both mentors and Bridge members aimed at improving their skills and we are working with the local councils and other bodies to enable those interested to undertake courses such as F.A. coaching badges and Community Sports Leader Award.
